The Adirondack chair, with its distinctive arm rests and unusually low seat position, is nearly ubiquitous in the United States, owing largely to the fact that this traditional, simply processed chair makes for a perfect recliner. On the wide armrests, you can place food and drinks, or set down your reading material.

In order to develop an appropriate Manufactum version of this product based on the authentic original, we sat down with the last manufacturer from the Adirondacks, the birthplace of the “Adirondack Chair.” Together, we developed a version of the Adirondack Chair that eluded artistic pampering and stressed more than other models its character as a “recliner for sitting.” This manufacturer no longer produces; however, we have been able to preserve the fruit of our unified effort, as we have found in Saxony a workshop for the disabled which now produces our Adirondack garden chair. It is still simply, yet rigorously processed; and it is equipped with its characteristic and preserved folding mechanism. Originally, our garden chair was manufactured from the wood of American white cedar; it now consists – logically – of untreated, indigenous silver fir timber from sustainable forestry. When processing of the seating furniture takes place, the wood from the silver fir does not exude resin.
